the glastonbury lineup = #VALUE!

this is the glastonbury lineup.  and i say lineup because glastonbury is calling it a lineup.  glastonbury knows this is more than a lineup though.  glastonbury knows this is the ninety-two olympic men’s basketball team of lineups.  they know they’ve just taken every other music festival and relegated its lineup to “tuesdays at the echoplex” level.  even my itunes genius bar can’t comprehend how glastonbury is pulling this off.  and if i’m running NME or Q magazines i’m thinking “how the f*ck do i contain my glastonbury reportings in one issue?”  and i’m legitimately considering publishing them in a special double issue.  or on torah scrolls.

for more info on the festival or its artists or to just look and read and research and want and get all salty because you’re not going either, click here.

westwood village trades up

in the most delightfully lopsided transfer of properties since babe ruth was shipped to my beloved yankees for a fat stack of cash, westwood village has given the perpetually-overrated pinkberry the big heave-ho and replaced it with the unstoppably-delectable yogurtland.  phew.  and while i’m sure there are plenty of ucla students, freshly brainwashed on pinkberry’s tart yogurt-powder, who will be keen to revolt as their local hills-era yogurt store stumbles off into the sunset, i would like to assure said misled youth that they will have much more fun gaining their freshman-fifteen at yogurtland.

here is the picture a jubilant janelle sent from her blackberry on a lunchtime stroll with the note: “i just walked down the street and freaked out.  they closed pinkberry and are turning it into a yogurtland!!!!!”

yogurtland
you can put fresh strawberries, chocolate sprinkles and nerds on your strawberry banana, lychee and cookies and cream yogurt, people.  nerdsonyogurt.  thinkaboutit!!!

dark was the night is also a concert

there are days that i wish i lived in in new york.  there are a lot of these days and there are a lot of reasons why.  today’s reason was brought to me by the madison square garden mailing list that i don’t actually remember joining.  score one for illegal data sharing.  score a second for homesickness.  score a third for anyone not foolish enough to miss this show:

darkwasthenight

yes, this is my second dark was the night post.  but the first related to audio-only.  this one is audio-visual.  and while this pattern might suggest otherwise, the odds of the third dark was the night post being felt, smelled or tasted are quite small.  but here’s to hoping!

ra(ndo)mblings on a tuesday

am i the only person who forgets that san fran is cold in the winter?  f*ck.  thought i was cool with a sweater and scarf, but no.  i am very uncool today.  just wet from the rain, achy from the muscle clenching that comes with trying to hug yourself warm WITH yourself and generally disheveled from all sorts of air and land travel.  plus, i’ve got that really cool bottoms of the jeans are wet from walking through puddles thing going on, which lets everyone know that i don’t look down when i walk.  i’m looking at my blackberry, public.  i am not paying attention.  oh…and then there was the delayed flight, turbulence and a headache.  i WILL have some cheese with this whine, thank you very much.

but…
